 What is Sustainable Landscape Management?
It is an approach to landscape design and management that reduces the impact on the environment. We proactively conserve, restore and manage properties and their natural assets.
Working with good ecological design principles, and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, US Green Building Council), each property is approached in a unique and customized manner. A review of existing soil fertility, drainage issues and water usage will be evaluated in relation to capital and maintenance budgets for the property. Working with this information a sound sustainable vision is developed.
Practical procedures for maintaining sustainable commercial landscapes:

Soil tests determine the fertility needs of your site.

Compost tea applications to improve soil structure and suppress plant diseases.

An irrigation system audit can determine how efficiently the property is being watered. We can then determine if irrigation repairs & upgrades are necessary to make the site efficient and eligible for “Saving Water Partnership” rebates.

Turf will be fertilized with organic fertilizers, blended with a slow release nitrogen source as appropriate for the season and soil composition.

Turf is aerated and ‘top dressed’ with an organic compost to help build the long term nutrient content and fertility of the soil.

Bed areas are mulched with a layered bark & compost to help fertilize, suppress weeds and retain moisture.

No Pre-emergent usage and limited use of pesticides for spot spraying weeds in turf and bed areas.
